We have here another wonderful find in this very Handsome American Colonial-styled Maple Desk.
It stands about 30 inches tall, is about 43 inches wide and is approximately 21 1/2 inches deep. Its knee hole area measures about 19 inches wide by about 24 inches high, measured from bottom of center Drawer down to the floor.
This lovely desk dates back to the period of approximately the 1950's, is beautifully crafted and quite American Colonial in styling. It has been made of a beautiful selection of Maple, extremely rich and quite warmly grained.
We love the ample storage to be found in its Eight Drawers. There is one center drawer, 4 spacious drawers on left side and 3 on the right side. The bottom right side drawer is double deep, and when closed, gives the appearance of 2 drawers - nicely matching its opposite side.
Classic Round Colonial Drawer handle knobs, traditional raised edge panel trims and sturdy bracket feet complete this lovely picture.
The impressive manner in which it has been finished can be found in the fact that all sides are beautifully finished so that this desk can be placed anywhere in a room and is equally lovely from any view. Even the side panels of the knee hole area are beautifully finished.
What an impressive and quite beautiful Desk this is! Because of its size, it would be a perfect candidate for a student - and because of its sturdy construction, we see it giving excellent service for many years to come.
Considering that it has a good number of years already to its credit, this very Handsome Desk is in lovely vintage condition with only the always anticipated areas of minor surface wear to its top surface, and age-related patina to be found in older pieces. We do believe however, that it is these areas if and when they do exist, are what we all actually look for when seeking out fine pre-owned furniture. After all, isn't that what really bestows the warmth, history, charm and character we all desire in our homes? Just give it a gentle cleaning, perhaps a bit of appropriate polish and it will be ready to be a wonderful new acquisition to your traditional American Home.
