- Item Description
We have here another wonderful find in this charming Figurine of a pleasant looking lad attired in traditional Dutch Costume.
He stands about 9 1/4 inches tall and weighs about 10.7 ounces.
Although there are no maker marks to be found on him, we have every reason to believe that this is indeed an authentic Metlox Piece. We received this Dutch Boy figurine as well as many other items, from the estate of Nancy Kincheloe who performed hand painting for the Metlox Company right here in Manhattan Beach, California. This figure of the Dutch Boy as well as many other of her items were created there between the years 1949-1953.
The color palette is soft and monochromatic featuring lush chocolate Browns and warm tan tones. We really like his proud stance, hands in pockets and the lovely details of his jacket such as the 6 round buttons with matching Brown Belt Buckle. His Blonde hair peeking out from beneath his classic Dutch Boy Cap, the wooden shoes partially covered in the back by his time-honored flowing trousers complete this especially endearing tableau!
It appears to be in lovely vintage condition. We have not detected any chips, cracks or repairs. We have presented some photographs here for your inspection however, where it appears some of the glaze may have 'missed' in a few areas - please see pictures 5-6-7.
Just give him a gentle cleaning and he will soon be ready to once again be proudly displayed and enjoyed. This new acquisition is sure to become a winning prize to your lovely collection and is sure to bring you very much pleasure as well as numerous compliments.
In addition, this is a Fantastic Investment in Beauty as well as in Beautiful Vintage Pottery which is sure to continue increasing in value as more and more time elapses!
