- Item Description
This is an adorable little Watering Can manufactured by Craftsman Studios in Laguna Beach, California. This Hand Hammered Copper piece features a delicate thin spout with a long graceful curve, a slightly ruffled rim just above three horizontal trim ridges, and a footed base. It has a wonderful Arts & Crafts look with an original patina, lightest on the upper part of the handle and just inside the rim, clearly showing where the Watering Can was most often held. We date this charming piece to the 1930's.
The Watering Can is 5 inches high and 8 inches wide (from outside edge of Handle to tip of Spout). It has a diameter of 4-1/4 inches at the rim and 2-5/8 inches at the base of the foot. It weighs 9 ounces.
The underside has the engraved Craftsman Co. mark with their classic Hammer and Anvil symbol and the model number of the piece, 342.
The inside of the Watering Can shows slight areas of verdigris. As we mentioned earlier, the mostly uniform original patina shows lighter areas on the handle, and just inside the rim where there is a thumb size area of brighter Copper. The Watering Can has been tested and holds water. The overall condition is very good to excellent (see pictures above).
This is a fabulous Arts & Crafts piece of Hand Hammered Copper from one of the classic Copper studios. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
