- Item Description
Today we are offering an authenticated Pre-Columbian statue from the Tumaco Culture in Rio Mira, Colombia.
The head statue or "Cabeza" stands two inches tall and is just 1-1/2" wide and 2-1/4" front to back. The irregular base of the head appears to have been removed from a larger piece of sculpture but is hard to say for sure. The head sits on a round base of hardwood with a small wire around the back where it rests securely.
GALERIA CANO in Bogota, Colombia, where the statue was originally purchased, estimates the origin of the head back to a period between 300BC-800AD. Along with the statue comes the signed, stamped, and dated Certificate of Authenticity from GALERIA CANO in Bogota, Colombia.
The statue is in very good condition overall for a piece this old. However, there are some small chips along the base at the neck where the head would have joined the body.
This is a beautiful authenticated piece of Pre-Columbian art and would surely make a nice start or addition to an existing collection.
