We have a wonderful piece of Chinese Pottery for you today. It is a SCULPTURE of two adorable boys standing on a bolder under a large banana leaf.
Both boys are in the traditional Chinese attire as they seem to be enjoying a moment as they tinkle from the boulder. We see a little frog near by as well as beautiful water lily's and flowers.
The artist has glazed this piece with such brilliant colors to further enhance the satin and silk of their clothes. Just as carefully decided, is the choice for the boys' faces and body to be left in the bisque finish.
There are characters on the boulder of this piece that we are told means 'When we were young, older brother and mother told us to come home early'. It is also marked on the back which would indicate maker, etc.
This item measures roughly 11 1/2" tall and 8" wide and 4 1/2" deep.
It is in great condition, though we find that the front lily has two tiny tips missing from it's petals. We see the boy holding the leaf has his ring finger tip missing and on the back of the piece where half of one of the bow on a boys braid is missing. Lastly, it appears the end of the leaf has been repaired, but not noticeable. These are actually very hard to see at first even second glance.
This would make a wonderful addition to you collection or certainly a great gift for the collector with a sense of humor in your life!
