- Item Description
We are pleased to present this vintage U.S. Army Signal Corps Field Telephone for your consideration. It is the model EE-8-A and it dates to the World War II time period, circa 1945. It has a Leather case which was the earlier style. The EE-8-B models have a Canvas case which turned out to be more practical in humid environments such as those found in the Pacific during World War II.
The case for the Telephone is 10 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. It weighs 10-1/4 pounds. The case is marked with various large block letters in white including C 2/184 on the top of the flap.
The unit is untested and sold as-is. The Crank on the side of the phone turns easily. The battery compartment is empty and is free of any visible corrosion. The case shows plenty of wear, but the Leather is still solid and intact. The cord for the Handset is stiff and wants to coil up, but appears intact. The Kellogg Handset is in good shape. We rate the overall condition of the Field Telephone as very good (see pictures).
This is a nice example of a World War II era Field Telephone. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
