- Item Description
Here, we have a gorgeous antique Tilt Top Table made from Cherry Wood. The Table is around 100 years old, and has the warm inviting look one associates with Cherry. Features include a spectacular Pedestal with four (4) curved legs sitting on Casters, which allow the table to be easily moved. The Tilt Lock is Brass with a slide catch that automatically locks when the Table is tilted to the horizontal position.
The Table is 29-1/8 inches in height, with a top surface that is 36-1/2 inches in diameter. There was no maker identification that we could find, but there is an old paper label on the underside with large numbers that read 18, but we are unsure of its significance.
The top surface of the Table shows typical wear for its age. There are a few shallow burn marks, likely from cigarettes, but they are part of the patina you would expect to find on an older piece. We notice that some of the screws and hardware looks like it has been replaced, and there is some chipping at the top of the Pedestal that supports the Table surface, but is covered and out of sight when the Table is in its normal position. We did not find any serious defects, and find that the Tilt Mechanism is fully functional and working smoothly. We rate the overall condition as very good (see pictures above).
This is a delightful Tilt Top Table with the warmth and charm of Cherry Wood. It would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
