We have here another wonderful find in this Important 1880's American Oak Dining Table.
It rises about 30" inches above the floor, is nearly a 44 inch square when in closed position.
Our Handsome table has been crafted of a lovely selection of quarter-sawn Oak, very rich and quite beautifully grained. It features 5 delicately fluted Pineapple carved Legs, one of which is the support for leaves if the new owner should so desire to have them made.
One of its sides boasts an exquisitely carved apron and gracefully shaped apron while the adjacent side aprons feature matching curved lower edges. All four corners beneath the top surface at corners meeting the aprons are beautifully fluted to echo the fluting in the legs.
We believe this Table dates back in time to the period of the 1880's and considering the many years it has served, it is in remarkably good condition including its original rollers.
Although there are no leaves available for this table, it should not be difficult to have new ones crafted since they would be straight sided pieces. We think it could probably accommodate up to four leaves.
It is in lovely vintage condition with perhaps only the always anticipated minor surface wear and age-related patina we so desire in charming older pieces. We do believe it is those areas if and when they do exist are what actually gives the warmth, charm and character we desire in our homes.
