We have a colorful and exciting collection of Mexican Folk Art Souvenirs for your delight. You will find 8 unique pieces of various terra-cotta as well as a colorful basket in this offering.
The first grouping of terra-cotta pieces consist of 4 nesting bowls. These are all glazed on the inside and not the outside, though each have glaze drippings along the outside. We believe this is the way the artist intended for them to look. They are also painted along the rims and tiny handles, first a dark brown and than an off-white color in a dot pattern.
Measurements are as follows; Largest 9 3/8" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep, Medium 5" in diameter and 2" deep, Small 4" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep, Mini 3 1/8" diameter and 1 3/8" deep. All are in great condition though we do find a shallow chip on the bottom of the largest bowl as well as tiny flea bites along the rims of most. This is expected with terra-cotta pottery, as it is quite porous.
Next, we have a colorful woven shallow basket. In this piece we see a beautiful butterfly in magenta, orange, green and natural tan straw. All woven in to the purple, magenta and natural tan colors of the basket. Please see photo for this hidden image! This basket sits 9 1/4" in diameter and 1 7/8" deep and is in excellent condition.
Next, we have an absolutely stunning 3 piece set of bowls in terra-cotta that have been painted in an off-white glaze leaving the earthen ware to show through in a gorgeous AZTEC pattern. The large footed bowl measures 8" in diameter and 2 1/4" tall, roughly 2" deep. Our 2 little complimentary footed side dishes or bowls are 4 3/8" in diameter and stand 1 3/4" tall and 1 1/4" deep. These pieces are in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or repairs that we can identify, really great!
Finally, is the tiny in size, but large in appeal, 2 handled urn. It too is made of terra-cotta and sits 2 1/2" tall, 3 3/8" handle to handle and has an opening of 1 3/4". Also in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs that we can identify.
This collection of Mexican and Folk earthenware would make a delightful addition to any collection as well as a super gift this season!
