Item Description

We have 4 beautiful Gurgling Jugs for your delight! These unique pitchers are named 'Gurgling' or 'Gurgle' because of the sound they make when one pours liquid from them. The water gets trapped in the tail and as you pour, the escaping air makes a sound much like the gurgling of fish. This collection of 2 large and 2 small jugs, are absolutely exquisite!

The large white GURGLE JUG measures 9 3/8" tall 6" at it's widest point and has a mouth opening of 3 3/8". It is marked "Devon, Dartmouth England" on the bottom as our picture indicates. We find crazing common with an item of this age. There is a small shallow chip on the base, as well as a dab of clay also on the base, which appears to have been done during the manufacturing process. (Please see last photo)

The second large GURGLE JUG is a vibrant leaf green and measures 9 3/8" tall 6" at it's widest point and has a mouth opening of 3 3/8". This fish has the same markings as the first, please see photo. It appears to be in near perfect condition. No chip, cracks or crazing that we can identify.

Next is the smaller, matte black GURGLE JUG and it measures 7 1/8" tall 5" at it's widest point with a mouth opening of 2 3/4". This one reads "Made in Dartmouth England" on the bottom. We find some scratch marks on the inside, perhaps from cleaning over the years. No other cracks, chips or crazing that we can identify.

Finally, is the smaller GURGLE JUG in an exotic drip glaze of dark olive, pale blue, and gold. It measures 7 3/8" tall 5" at its widest point with a 2 3/4" mouth opening. This one may be intended for a left handed person, as the tale is going the opposite direction. This makes it more comfortable to pour with your left hand. It has a marking of "Fosters Studio Pottery, Cornwell England" and is in excellent condition! No chips, cracks or crazing that we can identify.

These 4 beautiful pieces are a wonderful find and would make such a great addition to any collection of pottery. Equally, they would make such a thoughtful gift, catch'em while they are biting!!
