We have here another wonderful find in this Exquisitely Hand Painted Glass Candle Stick.
It stands about 9 inches tall and has a width of about 5 inches measured at the approximate widest portion of its arms. Its base is about 4 5/8 inches deep measured from Black Floral Painted area at its back, across to same area at front view.
We have been told by several extremely knowledgeable collectors that they all believe that the Hand Painting was most likely done by Abels Wasserberg Company under their Charleton line. We understand that Abels, Wasserberg was a renowned Decorating Company located in New York City, which bought undecorated items from other companies and then used their own Artistry to execute magnificent pieces such as this Candle Stick. They started their business in approximately the mid to late 1920's. These Collectors also believe that the possible Maker of the Glass Candle Stick was most likely the Westmoreland Company. We are extremely appreciative for their expertise in this area.
This Elegant Candle Stick rises from a Six-Sided Base and has been beautifully painted at its Front and Back Panels with Wonderful Pink Blossoms with their tiny little Green Leaves upon a matte Black Ground. The Side Panels are Clear while the clear portion of the base has a very tiny Flower and Leaf Design. The 'panels' have Gilded edges as do the exterior edges of the two side Handles. In addition, the upper edge of candle cup is also beautifully Gilded.
It is in Lovely Vintage Condition. We have not found any chips, cracks or repairs and only some loss of the Gilding due to the normal careful use and aging process. What a beautiful addition this will make to your collection or for that of the collector in your life.
