- Item Description
We are pleased to present this lot of two (2) vintage Art Glass Vases for your consideration. Although from different sources, the two Vases have a similar Powder Blue shade and work well together.
The larger of the two Vases is 9-1/4 inches high. It has a tiny 2-1/4 inch diameter base but increases quickly in size to over 6 inches in diameter at its bulbous section just above the base. It shrinks down again, measuring 3-1/4 inch in diameter at its slightly flared rim.
The base is a deep blue color, but the tone softens immediately above the base to powder blue, mixed with some smaller areas of darker blue. A couple of soil spots were noted on the underside of the base, and the inside is dusty and could use a cleaning. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs, and the overall condition is excellent (see pictures).
The second Vase has a more distinct layer of cased glass with an outer clear layer and inner blue layer. It stands 8-1/2 inches high with a 1-7/8 inch diameter clear base. It tapers outward to about 4-1/2 inches in diameter at its midpoint, then decreases to 1-3/8 inches in diameter at the rim.
The top surface of the rim is ground and there is a slight chip at the outer edge, just slightly bigger than a flea bite, barely visible to the naked eye. On one side about 3 inches above the base is a small cluster of black dots that appear to be material between the two layers of glass. You can see this in our third picture - look at the left edge of the Vase on the right side of the picture and you can just make out a pattern of tiny black dots. There are no cracks or repairs, and the second Vase is in very good overall condition.
The combined weight of the two Vases is 2 pounds 12 ounces.
This is a delightful lot of two Cased Glass Powder Blue Vases. They would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
