We have here another wonderful find in this vintage apricot colored silk evening purse which most likely dates as far back as the period of the 1920's.
It is marked as having been made in France. The lettering is in Gold and is difficult to photograph. We have done our best to capture the lettering as best we could for your inspection.
It measures about 6 Inches in height measuring from end of the fabric bottom to top of its lovely metal frame. We have measured it also at about 5 Inches in width measuring from approximately the widest point near the bottom.
The Design is beautiful in its intricate details and is enhanced by tiny gold sequins and various sizes and shapes of very small beads. The lining is actually in very good condition. As you can see from the photographs, it has a very interesting mirror/change purse combination which snaps closed when not in use. This little purse slips into the open pocket in the lining.
It has a classic simple chain handle which does not do anything to minimize or detract from the beauty and artistry of the design and the bead work. The Frame is Gorgeous! It has a most interesting design which blends so nicely with the lovely elegance of the purse itself.
As shown in the photographs, time has not been kind to this very fine apricot fabric. there is quite a bit of age-related deterioration along the sides, around the bottom and in various places as shown. This is should be able to be repaired. We would hope however, that this purse will be added to a vintage collection of beautiful examples of Evening purses which were made in France.
