World
War II United States Military Issue Watch

An authentic
World War II Military issue wristwatch that was worn by the army,
navy and air corps during the Second World War. This has an all
steel water resistant case, luminous dial and hands with the original
green fabric strap. It also has the hack protector which screws
over the knob used for setting the time. This prevented the time
from accidentally changing after the watch had been synchronized
with the rest of the team by securing the knob with a screw on
cover. The back of the watch is embossed U.S.N. 2716C indicating
that is was a Navy issue. The crystal is in good condition with
a few minor scratches as well as normal wear and tear on the body.
Only the hour hand responds to the setting knob and the watch
is not running. Buy

Telescope
Sighting #30 World War II Kershaw & Sons

I believe
this sight is from a World War II tank. Mark I #720 1940. The
side dial moves the back lens across. This lens has sight lines
engraved on it. The front lens can be removed by unscrewing it.
The inner diameter of the lens holder is threaded to add extra
lenses or make a filter! It is heavy brass and is painted in the
original black paint. Some also have said it to be a bomb sight.
The markings are engraved on the side as is in the photo above.

War II Tank Periscope

This periscope
is working fine. I have held a poppy plate above which you can
see in the picture above. It is in its original condition with
paint and a paper sticker. It has camoflage green color on the
front which has some old tape stuck to it. The rest is black.
There are no markings on this periscope, but a great addition
to your WWII collection. You can always find something to do with
a periscope!! Buy

Civil
War General Grant Memorabilia Ironstone Platter and Coffee Pot

This auction
is for two pieces of Old English Ironstone china that General
Grant and his staf were served on during the Civil War. The provenance
states: "This teapot and platter goes back to my great grandparents
in Ohio. During the Civil War, General Grant and his staff were
served on them. They were made in England somtime prior to them.
(sp) They are an Ironstone Ivy Lustre. Book shows a John Meir
but this was much later. Mary Lorring at Classic Antiques puts
about a $300.00 value for both. These were passed down through
my mothers family." Signed by what looks like Bob Malone. The
provenance was taped to the back of the platter. It is shown in
the picture above, although it is not a yellow paper (I had to
darken the image to pick up the writing and the scanned image
turned to the yellow.) Neither the platter nor the coffee pot
/ teapot are marked. There is an impressed 8 and a Z on the pot
and a 12 on the platter along with a decorator's mark. The platter
is 14-3/8" x 10-3/16". The coffee pot is 8-3/4" high at the handle
and 6" in diameter. The lid to the pot is missing. The pot shows
a copper lustre while the platter doesn't show the lustre as much
anymore. Both pieces are decorated with beautiful ivy vines. The
pot has embossed grapes, vines and leaves as shown above. There
are no chips, cracks or crazing. I do notice a small hairline
near the base of the coffee pot and a brown spot on the platter.
A great and interesting piece of history that comes with the provenance!

Pair
of French Bayonets Inscribed 1878

These bayonets
are inscribed on the back of the blade: "Mre d'Armes de Oulle
Tuin 1878" From a great eBayer on an earlier bayonet listing,
Bayohunter (Richard Abenbroek) translates this to roughly mean
"Manufactured Armaments in the French town of Oulle Tuin sometime
in 1878" (The town name is a guess on my part since the script
is difficult to read.) He also tells us that these bayonets were
made one year after General Custer's last stand at the battle
of "The Greasy Grass" or better known as the batle of "The Little
Big Horn". These bayonets are an 1878 version of a post Franco-Prussian
War model "French 1874 Gras Rifle Bayonet."Various marks and numbers
are on the guard. #2 on the blade, #77 on the back. "R" in a diamond
"L97991" on the guard. The other is marked with the same "L89470".
Wooden handle. Brass end spring loaded button to fit rifle. One
has a chip of wood at the handle. (See picture) There is slight
surface rust. (I could steel wool it off if you wish.) Overall,
a wonderful pair of bayonets that reflect French history. Buy
it on eBay!
